Hawaii pt 2 (Sept 10th - 23rd)

We took boat to a private island named 'Secret island'. Nick, Devon's friend, owns the island which sits on Koala Ranch. On this ranch, movies like Jurassic Park and shows like Lost were filmed. We brought a cooler full of drinks and played with kayaks and stand up paddle boards in the ocean (seen below), ping pong, sand volleyball and enjoyed our time thoroughly.   Great first full day in Hawaii!

This is a view from the top of the pill box hike in Lanikai. Devon's family lives at the trailhead of this hike. The two islands are named the Moaks. Devon and his friends talked up the Moaks a lot, so we kayaked there a few days later.

Hawaii football game against Lamar. They won 53-2!

Devon and his friend Scotty take me on a hike to some waterfalls, which are seen below. So green!

Scotty is confused as to where his car keys are.  We dove in to search for them for about 20 minutes before we gave up. After, we walked back to the car and saw a peacock walking next to a pretty girl. We stopped our car and asked the girl if the peacock was hers, and when I made eye contact, I realized it was a great friend from Boulder, CO. Annemarie, a yoga instructor I became friends with in spring of 2012, had just moved to O'ahu two weeks previously. What a cool coincidence!

Great view of Kailua

Getting ready to go to the Moaks!!

Tide pool on the eastern side of the Moaks

I found two girls from Seattle on Lanikai beach and invited them. Devon and Krystal led the hike to the southern side of the island and we found what makes the Moaks so famous.

Devon jumps from 'Mr Scary.' See if you can follow his jump in the next 3 pictures

Devon's view from Mr. Scary!

I took the smaller jump. Mr Scary looked a bit intense for me. We snorkled in these waters and had a blast hanging out here for a couple hours.

A view of Lanikai. If you squint, you may be able to see Devon's home.

Devon took Krysal and me to "yoks,' a famous beach on the eastern shore of O'ahu

We hiked through a bamboo forest to avoid the guard. The hike is actually closed and people are not allowed to hike, but hundreds still do. We eventually crawled through the forest, obtaining lots of mosquito bites, and then ran to the first steps and started.

Devon took me to one of the most epic hikes I've experienced. Up, up and away

This picture is taken by Uncle Tom, father of Kiola and Travis. These are Devon's good friends from Kailua. Tom brought a nice camera and lent me his binoculars to take pictures of Devon and Travis surfing 12-16 foot waves at world famous, Pipeline. The swell that came in was the first big swell of the season, which came in unusually early.

Devon's view from Pipeline!
